What is a good tinder profile?

To put simply a good tinder profile is one that generates plenty of matches and ultimately dates. A lot of guys think they have a good profile, yet struggle to get matches. At the end of the day the dating marketplace determines the strength your profile. In general, if you are not getting at the very least 5-10 matches a day then chances are your profile is not that good.

Personally, my profile gets 20-40 matches a day. That is because i spent years getting the best possible photos and religiously testing them. Your profile is almost entirely determined by your photos. For a photo to be good, three elements need to be met

1) You need to look good in the photo – This is done through lighting, angles. and facial expressions. If you are a 6 in real life, you should look like a 6.5-7 in your photos. For most guys it’s the opposite. If they are a 6, they look like 4 in their photos. (examples further below)

2) The photo needs to look natural – Most guys mess up here as well. Their photos come out looking very posed and that is unattractive. The vibe should be like you were just doing something cool and your friend randomly took a photo of you. Even if you hired a professional photographer, you can replicate this vibe and make your photos look natural with the right strategy (more on that later)

3) The photo quality needs to not suck – Contrary to popular belief you don’t get bonus points if your photo is super high quality. However, you do loose points if it is blurry or pixelated. Any recent smart phone will be able to get the quality you need. Using a DSLR camera is also fine.

Pro tip: avoid using the blurred background effect. It signals to the girl that you paid a professional photographer and thus is low value

How Does Tinder Work?

Tinder is by far the most popular dating app on the market and its fairly simple. You create a profile, which includes upload a few photos and writing a bio (more on that later) and then you are shown girls. You swipe right on the ones you find attractive and if she swipes right as well, you get a match. From there you can chat directly to set up a date.

There is a hidden side to this as well and that’s your Elo score or “tinder score”. This is Tinders’ way of determining how desirable your profile is. The higher the score the more exposure your profile gets. There is a lot of confusion around how this works, but its also pretty straightforward. Your score is primarily determined by two factors:

1) How many girl swipe right on your profile – this is definitely the biggest piece of the pie. If the majority of girls are swiping left then your score will be low. And in order to get more girls to swipe right, you need better tinder photos (as discussed previously). It’s as simple as that

2) How much you use the app – It logically makes sense that Tinder would want to reward its active users. I personally tested this as well. I ran an experiment where i had two profiles with the same exact photos. On one of them i swiped for 2-5 min daily and on the other one I didn’t swipe at all. The one that I used got 3x more matches.

How To Get More Matches On Tinder

On tinder there is a small percentage of men who are getting the majority of the matches…and you can be one of them. It starts with getting really good photos as discussed previously. Then you need to write a bio that stands out (more on that later) and finally you need to actively use the app for at least a few minutes every day.

If you are struggling to get matches, it is almost certainly your photos that’s holding you back. Sometimes, guys erroneously think they have good pictures, but if they’re not getting matches then they’re wrong.
